Biosafe, an Auto Sueco company, has signed an Program-Agreement with the ACIV - Association for the Development of Civil Engineering - Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra. The agreement provides the research and development of rubber mixtures for safer road pavements and environmentally sustainable.
The research will focus on the development of bituminous mixtures incorporating by dry of the recycled rubber tires, material commercialized by Biosafe and that several international scientific studies prove to be the material more effective in the construction of road pavements.

Such mixtures contributes to greater comfort for drivers and also populations that already induces a lower noise of the tires in contact with the ground and responds effectively to the issue of recycling of used tires, meeting environmental policy defined by the Portuguese Government.
The tests will be performed in experimental excerpts in Mota-Engil Paving, SA concessions using bituminous mixtures prepared by Probigalp, SA.
This Program-Agreement sums up the Phd program of the Dr. Jose Luis Feiteira who analyzed and showed the benefits of using asphalt modified with rubber.
